How to Make Rosin From Home

Have you heard the buzz about rosin recently? It is the cheapest, most comfortable, and safest way to produce solventless dab-friendly cannabis concentrates.

What is Rosin?

Rosin is the process of extracting solventless hash oil by combining heat and pressure. Using this technique will leave you with a rich cannabinoid and terpene resin. Unlike other cannabis concentrates, rosin is entirely solventless. This leads to a purer end product. You don’t have to worry about the harmful effects of the butane in BHO (Butane hash oil) on your body. The wax is pure and when extracted correctly just as potent as BHO.  Rosin is also way safer to make at home. The process of making BHO is difficult, and not suggested for amateurs as butane is extremely flammable.

What Can You Expect from Rosin?

Looking for a fast, powerful, and highly potent dose of cannabis? Rosin is a great option because it is potent and fast acting. There have been reports of anywhere from 50-70 percent THC content, which is higher than the average 25-30 percent found in the plant. With less product needed to achieve maximum affects, rosin has become a favorite among users.

A single dab of rosin gives you a large dose of cannabis quickly, which makes it a great option for medical patients who use marijuana to manage chronic pain. It provides strong and effective relief quickly. Rosin is also versatile and can be made into several different concentrates including crumbling, shatter, and wax. You can also incorporate it into your favorite edibles or topicals.

How to Extract Rosin at Home

Making rosin at home is a pretty simple and fast process.  All you need is heat and pressure. The combination liquifies the cannabinoids and terpenes from the marijuana bud and turns it into a sticky wax. Make sure that you have the following materials prepared:

  • A hair straightener (with a heat setting as low as 250 degrees)
  • Marijuana or Keif
  • Parchment paper
  • Gloves that are heat resistant
  • Collection Tool ( you can use dabber tools)

Set the straightener to it’s lowest setting. Do not set it anything over 300 degrees because this could cause terpene loss.

Fold a 4×4 piece of parchment paper and place the cannabis inside of it. Press it together lightly and then place the filled parchment paper inside of the hair straightener.

Press down firmly for 5-7 seconds. You want to hear a sizzle because that means that the resin has melted.

Remove the paper from the heat, and pick away the bud. Use the collection tools to collect the wax. This can be a pretty sticky process and needs to be performed carefully.

That’s it! It’s so simple and a really efficient way to make dabs from home.

What Can I Do With the Pressed Bud

When your extraction is done you may be wondering what to do with the pressed bud. In a dire situation, it is ok to smoke, although the taste is not pleasant. Some users say that potency is similar.

One of the best ways to use pressed bud it to throw it in a batch of infused butter or coconut oil.

Rosin gives you a clean and easy cannabis concentrate at home without sacrificing potency. If you are looking for perfect dabs to get the job done, making rosin is ideal for you! Have you ever tried extracting rosin at home? Let us know how it worked for you in the comments.
